How are you doing? Like, how are you REALLY doing?! The I Like Her Style Vancouver Lifestylist Contributors and I wanted to give you a great big hug right now… and a special note of encouragement!

Although we haven’t been able to be together in person, the I Like Her Style contributors known as The Lifestylists and I have been keeping in touch with Zoom as well as our What’s App group chat.

Together today, we are launching a new video to kickstart a movement called ‘Be Well. Stay Connected. Stand Up For Your Sisters.’ Our video is a collaborative effort to share our love and support with you – it’s a testament to the power of the female tribe!

Be Well. Stay Connected.

This is… ehem... tough. But it is also a time filled with beauty and gratitude (if you look for it). Each of our versions of life right now look different and come with their own challenges – and girl, those challenges are diverse! From loneliness and boredom to complete overload, financial strain and the sacrifices of our front-line and essential workers. So as we navigate this time and find our temporary ‘new normal’, it is most important that we stay well and remain connected. Making your physical + mental wellness, and social + emotional connection a priority will help you jump those hurdles with grace.

So what have you been doing since mid-March when things got ‘real’? I think in the beginning I was in shock. Maybe you were too. We now have had a liiiittle practice at this whole new way of life. The Lifestylists and I have stayed connected through virtual chats using the ZOOM app. It’s easier than you may think, and it allows you to ‘fill your cup’ by visiting with multiple people at once. Remember the Brady Bunch’s signature squares? Well it’s a lot like that, only with you and your friends!

In addition, we’ve been attending Vancity Business Babes virtual event experiences using Zoom. Danielle Wiebe, (who is one of the Lifestylists you see in our video) is the founder of VCBB. I have so much respect and truly admire the way that she was able to pivot her in-person, event-based business into a brand new online version which connects and inspires us at a time where that is needed more than ever. I highly recommend attending one of their next virtual events. It’s very reassuring to see how many other women are continuing to forge ahead and find their new wave of thrive during this pandemic.

STAND UP FOR YOUR SISTERS

Have you seen our sweater collab with Reign + Glory – the ethical, sustainable fashion brand? The ‘Stand Up For Your Sisters’ movement which originally was launched to raise awareness against cyber bullying takes on a whole new meaning during this global pandemic! It is now more important than ever that we stand up for our sisters who may be battling publicly or silently with the affects of Covid 19.

It’s no coincidence that Melanie Pederson (who is one of our Lifestylists and is also the founder of Reign + Glory) was a shining example of the STAND UP FOR YOUR SISTERS movement. She did not skip a beat at the onset of this change, going into high gear to help others. Most notably, she partnered with the Mamas For Mamas Vancouver charitable organization to raise needed funds and bring awareness to the single mothers in our area who are dealing with health concerns with little to no support or supplies.

Designed by Kyla after her pre-teen daughter Kate (shown at the front, right) had been bullied online by two classmates. Kyla wanted to turn the experience into a positive, so along with Reign + Glory, the STAND UP FOR YOUR SISTERS movement was born – making Kate the official poster girl! The buttery soft sweaters are made in Canada of Bamboo + Organic Cotton.

PS: If you loved our video and decide to create your own version, please #bellwellstayconnected and #standupforyoursisters so that we can see and share!

Wishing you love, faith and grace. During this time, and any time – you are exactly where you need to be and you are enough.
