Shocking Changes
A few months have passed since I began Invisalign and it’s now mid-October IN THESE PHOTOS FROM MY GIRL’S DAY IN FORT LANGLEY. Seasons have changed and my teeth are gradually changing too. Some of the changes to my life and look are downright shocking, and I’m not just talking about my new dark hairdo!
I’ve been shocked at how second nature life with Invisalign has become. It’s no longer something that I plan my life around or feel nervous about removing to eat when I’m out at a restaurant. Though I’m only a out a quarter of the way through my treatment, I’m shocked that it feels like overnight there has been a significant change that I can feel with my tongue. For the first time in my life, it’s easy to floss. Even more shocking… it’s kind of fun! lol My teeth were always so close together that it was difficult (and even painful) to force floss through. Now I don’t even need to by the ‘easy glide’ variety. I’m enjoying tending to my teeth and even enjoying flossing daily, which was something I always had to lie to my dentist about! I’m more interested in my oral care as I no longer just want to hide my teeth away and forget about them.
I honestly feel a sense of pride that I hadn’t expected. There are many things that we can’t necessarily change in our lives, but our teeth are something that we have the power to improve. I have put fixing my teeth off for so long and for so many reasons – now that treatment is under way, I feel so empowered. Now that I’ve made this happen, what will I conquer next?
One of the most shocking surprises came this Fall at my check in on November 23rd. I was told that I no longer needed to wear the elastics during the day, and could wear them just while I slept. This was a huge milestone for me as I felt like I was seeing a huge reward for my dedication to this smile makeover!
The marketing department also decided to send me home with the Propel – it’s a tool which when used for a minimum of 5 minutes a day will allow me to change aligners almost twice as fast!
At this point in treatment, I have a lot to smile about and for the first time in a long time – it’s a smile that I’m more confident to show off!
